October 29 and 31, 2011 - Preston and Liebe have been bred.
21 to 28 days - the brain and spinal cord are developing, the embryo begins to bend its head forward and curl up in the classic foetal position. All the organs of the body, the limbs, head, eyes and face are being formed.
28 days - The embryo is oval in shape and is about one inch in diameter.
29 to 30 days - Male and female sexual characteristics show and the eyelids close.
An ultra sound on November 29, 2011 confirms that Liebe is in whelp.
35 to 44 days - Abdominal enlargement is definately noticeable. Mammary glands are developing.
We have decided on "snow" for Liebe's litter theme. Colorado has been getting lots of it lately, and snow makes me think of the holidays. Some ideas . . .

December 22, 2011 - We had Liebe's x-ray today. . .the babies are lined up and ready for their trip into the world. Liebe was 38 lbs. at breeding and is now carrying 46.5 lbs. of puppies! She is spending lots of time resting. Milk is coming in and she has PLENTY. The nursery is set up and ready for the big day.

December 28, 2011 - January 3, 2012 - The babies have arrived - 4 boys and 2 girls. Everyone is doing great!
January 1, 2012 - Babies had their nails done for the first time.

January 2, 2012 - This afternoon was tail dock / dew claw removal. We usually do this at day 3 but with the New Year Holiday, had to wait for day 5. Everyone did remarkable. They are a little fussy but doing good.
