Korie Lynn's 1999 Health Diary

01/15/99 Noticed that she had a hot place on her back; she scooted her bottom on the rug 2 days ago. Yesterday she layed in the hall and ripped apart a toy.
01/16/99 - 5:35 A.M. 2 minute seizure - fairly mild, urinated a little and foamed at the mouth. Gave her 90 mg PB and oral valium. She had a fast recovery.
01/16/99 - 6:07 A.M.
 
              - 8:15 A.M.
              - 10:30 A.M.
              - 4:30 P.M.
              - 10:30 P.M.
              - 3:10 A.M.
Another 2 minute seizure. This one was much more violent - little urine and anals released. She layed rigid after the seizure for about 1 minute. Lots of pacing afterwards.

01/31/99 - 4:53 A.M. Short seizure; released her anal glands.
01/31/99 - 5:40 A.M. Seizure on the floor; had given her rescue remedy immediately before the seizure; urinated. Gave 60 mg PB and oral valium.
01/31/99 - 5:54 A.M. A.M. Seizure on the floor and released her anals. Lots of foaming from the mouth. Gave rescue remedy; very groogy from the meds.
01/31/99 - 8:00 P.M.
             - 10:00 P.M.
Short seizure. Gave 60 mg PB and oral valium.
Gave 90 mg PB
01/31/99 - 11:00 P.M. Short seizure; she went back to sleep; no meds administered.
02/01/99 - 2:30 A.M.
             - 5:00 A.M.
             - 7:50 A.M.
             - 12:30 P.M.
             - 3:00 P.M.
             - 6:23 P.M.

             - 6:38 P.M.
             - 6:45 P.M.
             - 10:00 P.M.

Short seizure with a lot of pacing afterwards. Gave oral valium.
Seizure in the car after leaving Dr. Scotts; urinated. She was very restless and running about in the car. She was on Roy's lap when this seizure occurred.
Second seizure in the car - Korie screamed during the seizure. Very vocal.
Home from Dr. Scotts. Gave 90 mg PB and oral valium.
Gave 60 mg PB
   NOTE: Korie has never been vocal in any seizure that we have witnessed. She was very vocal in the second seizure in the car. This was not a yipe, but a howl that lasted several seconds. We must also point out that we had visited Dr. Scott to have Schniken euthanized. We went with Schniken but did not return with her. Schniken was 14+ years old at the time.
03/16/99 - 3:06 A.M. Short seizure. Gave 60 mg PB and oral valium.
03/18/99 - 9:10 A.M. Short seizure. Gave 60 mg PB and oral valium.
04/07/99 - 5:04 A.M. About a 1 minute seizure; gave 15 mg oral valium and 90 mg PB.
04/07/99 - 5:30 A.M.
             - 10:15 A.M.
             - 10:53 P.M.
About a 1 minute seizure; gave 4cc rectal valium.
Gave 90 mg PB
1 minute seizure; gave 2cc rectal valium.
04/08/99 - 12:08 A.M.
             - 4:31 A.M.
             - 2:45 P.M.
About a 2 minute seizure; gave 30 mg oral valium

Another 2 minute seizure; gave oral valium and 60 mg PB
Gave 90 mg PB

Changed Korie's PB to 60 mg 3 times a day at 7:00 A.M., 3:00 P.M., and 11:00 P.M.

Korie's current medications are:
     60 mg PB - AM, mid-day, PM
     4.0 cc KBr (250 mg concentration) - PM
     15 mg Zinc - AM and PM
     300 mg Calcium ascorbate - AM
     200 IU vitamin E - PM
     .6 mg soloxine - AM and PM
     Flint River Ranch premium dog food and home cooked garnish
     Gold Bead Implants on 8/10/98

Korie is part of an Epilepsy Research project at the University of Columbia, Missouri
We attribute Korie's long seizure-free period to 3 items:
     1. Change in PB to 3 times daily.
     2. Change to Flint River Ranch food ( all of our dogs are fed this ).
     3. Daily massage of her gold beads.
